Bumblebee Jasper Necklace with Silver Bee and Honeycomb

Oh boy, I don't even know where to start with this glorious necklace! 

It started with me so tired of winter and wishing I had my big bunches of lavender swarming with honeybees. Then I saw the Bumblebee Jasper oval in my stash of stones.  I knew I had to make a bee, and a bee needs it's honeycomb, right?

I created all of the elements from sheets of sterling silver.  The bee was created using a vintage brass die (mold) forming the sheet of silver down into the impression. I soldered it to another sheet of silver that was patterned with the honeycomb texture, which matches the back of the jasper setting.

The stone setting is in .999 fine silver soldered to a thick sheet of sterling silver that has been patterned with the honeycomb texture.  I embellished around the stone with a faceted silver wire, and the bail has the matching honeycomb texture to pull all the elements together. The pendant measures approximately 3.25" from the top of the bail to the bottom of the stone setting.  The bee link is .85" in diameter and the stone setting itself is approximately 1.52" long (not including the ring on top) by .61" wide.

The rolo chain is 22.25 inches long and closes with a large lobster.  All of the rings have been soldered closed making it secure.  This is really a special, solid piece of wearable art.
