Cushion Cut Larimar Ring Size 9, Dominican Republic Stone
Cushion Cut Larimar Ring Size 9, Dominican Republic Stone
11mm cushion cut larimar is set in a decorative bezel. I’ve created a double half-round sterling silver band in a size 9. The ring is soldered to a thick sturdy sheet of silver for lasting durability. It's marked .925 and my maker mark.
Dreamy, mesmerizing Larimar is known by different names: "dolphin stone" for the charming and intelligent ocean creature, "Caribbean gemstone" for its waves of ocean-blue color reminiscent of the waters near the Dominican Republic beach where it was found, and most commonly, "Atlantis stone" for the belief by some that the Dominican Republic now stands where the legendary City of Atlantis fell. Larimar, also called "Stefilia's Stone", is a rare blue variety of the silicate mineral pectolite found only in the Dominican Republic, in the Caribbean. Its coloration varies from white, light-blue, green-blue to deep blue. Quality grading is according to coloration and the typical mineral crystal configuration in the stone. Larimar also comes in green and even with red spots, brown strikes, etc., due to the presence of other minerals and/or oxidation. But the more intense the blue color and the contrast in the stone, the higher and rarer is the quality.
As larimar is a soft stone, rough handling, heat and chemicals should be avoided. Clean the gemstone with warm, soapy water. Steamers and ultrasonic cleaners should be avoided.

Care Instructions
Jewelry should not be subjected to lotions, sprays or any chemical, as damage to materials may result. If a light cleaning is needed, usually a soft, water dampened cloth will do the trick.
Items can be stored with an anti-tarnish strip or you can polish pieces with a Sunshine cloth. The more a piece is worn, the less it tarnishes due to body oils.
A person's body chemistry may cause changes to metals. Renaissance wax is a commonly used sealant to prevent these changes. My items are not sealed unless expressly stated in listing description.
